"They don't like me..."

Hankyung blinked and turned his milky brown eyes to Henry, head tilted.

"What?"

Henry sighs, “You know what I mean, hyung..."

"No, I don't."

Henry is young and naïve and tired of being lied to, this Hankyung knows. Hankyung knows exactly what he's talking about, he just chooses not to understand.

Understanding means having to explain.

Henry turns his twinkling eyes to Hankyung, his face sullen and fatigued, arms draped loosely at his sides. Hankyung notices how the moonlight hits him at the exact right angle that makes him look angelic. Beautiful, even.

Henry purses his lips in thought then sighs, catching on to Hankyung's little game, "The fans, the other Super Junior members...why don't they like me?"

Hankyung sighs and looks over the balcony, down at the bright lights and classic sounds that make Seoul. He thinks a moment, then turns back to Henry.

"They like you."

He can feel the lie staining lips and dripping down his chin, burning him like acid. But he keeps a straight face. He's expert at this.

Henry, though, isn't buying it.

"I heard Heechul talking to Donghae about how I'll split up the band. They all completely ignore me, the members I mean. And I keep seeing comments on the 'net how I'll ruin everything." His voice is small and shaky and Hankyung almost feels disgusted about how easily he’s breaking down.

Hankyung doesn't know what to say, so he pulls Henry into a tight hug and breathes him in, breathes in the stress, the abandonment, the hurt. He runs his fingers through Henry's hair, not really knowing if the gesture was soothing but knowing he had to do something.

"Why don't they like me?"

"I like you."

"Am I not good enough?"

"I think you're perfect."

Hankyung's words are a collection of useless syllables that drop from his lips and topple to the floor, forming a pool he's slowly drowning in. Henry just sobs on his shoulder, so young, so naive, so tired, and Hankyung just kisses the top of his head. He pretends the kisses are magic and are slowly dissolving all Henry's pain and worry and replacing them with warmth and happiness.

He untangles the webs surrounding Henry, he drains away the sadness.

Henry cries. Hankyung pretends.

Several minutes (hours? years?) pass before Henry lifts himself up to see Hankyung, not bothering in pulling away from the warmth radiating of his hyung’s body, and turn those powerfully twinkling eyes at him.

“You like me?”

“I like you.”

“You think I’m good?”

“I think you’re perfect.”

They stare at each other, breathing coming out in small clouds as the temperature drops, but both boys feeling warmer than ever. Hankyung thinks that if he were to move down a few inches his lips would meet Henry’s. But only for a second. Only for a second.

“If you like me…and you think I’m perfect…then nothing else matters.” Henry says finally, nodding to himself for confirmation before settling his head back on Hankyung’s shoulder.

Hankyung sighs out shakily and wraps his arms around Henry. He knows that if the other Super Junior members were to come out here and see Henry on his lap, clinging on to him for dear life, he’d have to explain (he hated explaining). He knows that it’s getting colder and that they should go inside. He knows his heart shouldn’t be beating rapidly agaisnt his chest like this.

Hankyung knows.

But, see, he doesn’t care.
